For years after Cobain’s death in April 1994 he found himself stopping at pawn shops in downtown Seattle and looking for left-handed guitars to replace the last casualty of Nirvana’s auto-destructive concert finales. “I’m thinking: ‘Hey, Kurt, I found this guitar for you; it’ll work, we’ll restring it’. Then I’m like, Oh - I don’t have to do that any more”.
